About P-1 AI:
We are building an engineering AGI. We founded P-1 AI with the conviction that the greatest impact of artificial intelligence will be on the built world—helping mankind conquer nature and bend it to our will. Our first product is Archie, an AI engineer capable of quantitative and spatial reasoning over physical product domains that performs at the level of an entry-level design engineer. We aim to put an Archie on every engineering team at every industrial company on earth.
Our founding team includes the top minds in model-based engineering, deep learning, and industries that are our customers. We recently closed a $23 million seed round led by Radical Ventures that includes a number of other AI and industrial luminaries. We invite you to join our team of the world’s best engineers and AI researchers, building AI’s most impactful use case.
About the Role:
As a Technical Program Manager at P-1 AI, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish, ensuring alignment with business objectives. You’ll work with people across our core engineering, customer engineering, and AI teams to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with stakeholders across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your analyses and recommendations to leadership as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.
As our founding program manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping our engineering culture, as well as having a significant impact steering P-1 AI’s product development and deployment to enterprise customers across a wide range of industries.
Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple high-impact engineering initiatives—ensuring alignment with technical architecture, timelines, and quality standards.
Ingest and structure engineering requests from Slack, leadership, and go-to-market teams. Transform them into clearly scoped, actionable tasks and track them to completion across teams.
Compile and transform requests into well-defined engineering tasks, oversee their assignment, completion and track progress to ensure timely execution.
Build and manage detailed technical project roadmaps for both internal and customer-facing efforts. Use effective project tools to track milestones and ensure everything runs on time.
Collaborate with engineering leadership on sprint planning. Drive best practices, unblock teams, and support continuous process improvements to keep velocity high.
Support strategic decisions on team assignments, capacity, and workload distribution to ensure the right people are solving the most important problems.
Identify potential risks in architecture, system dependencies, and technical scalability, report them to engineering leadership, and execute mitigation strategies as directed.
Communicate project status, technical challenges, and outcomes to engineering and company leadership, ensuring transparency and alignment with business and product objectives.
Maintain comprehensive documentation—from project plans and status reports to change logs and KPIs—to ensure everyone stays aligned and informed.
About You:
Experience in technical project management, preferably within AI or a physical engineering sector (industrials, aerospace, automotive, etc.).
Proficiency with a broad range of project management tools.
Strong understanding of AI technologies, cloud platforms, architecture, APIs, and software development life cycles.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, with experience presenting technical roadmaps and project updates to engineering leadership.
Deep hands-on experience with Agile methodologies.
What will make you stand out:
A proven track record in managing complex engineering projects from conception through completion.
Experience working with or within physical engineering sectors.
Start-up experience - thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment; self-directed and self-motivated.
Based in San Francisco, or willingness to relocate.
Interview Process:
Initial screening - with Head of Talent (30 mins)
Interview with Head of Operations (45 mins)
Interview with Head of Core Engineering (45 mins)
Culture fit / Q&A (maybe in person) - with co-founder & CEO (30 mins)
