Job Description

We engineer our farms to operate as advanced manufacturing lines. As a Senior Robotics Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, simulation, and building of our industrial machinery. The machines you create will autonomously handle millions of pounds of produce. Your work will be the foundation of our robots that work with each other to grow, process, and package fresh produce.

Responsibilities

You will design machines that move and process food. You will work at our flagship farm with on-site labs and fabrication facilities to rapidly prototype your designs.

On a typical day, you will:

• Work in a small team with electrical and software engineers to rapidly design and prototype machines
• Design and develop mechatronic systems, focusing on servo mechanisms, actuators, and precision control systems.
• Conduct dynamic analysis, including kinematic and kinetic modeling, to ensure system performance and reliability.
• Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and technical drawings using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks).
• Perform simulations and analysis to optimize designs for durability, efficiency, and performance.
• Prototype, test, and validate designs, analyzing results to refine and improve system performance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to servo systems, motion control, and dynamic performance.
• Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate best practices into designs.
• Document designs, specifications, and test results to support product development and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications & Experience

• B.S. degree in Mechatronics, Robotics Engineering, or related field
• 4+ years of experience in a professional environment
• Development of complex products through trade studies or system design and analysis
• Advanced Inventor user or equivalent (NX, Solidworks, etc.), including finite element analysis
• Expertise in mechanism design, electro-mechanical actuators, high-performance hydraulics, sensors, or data analysis
• Plastic and steel design and materials knowledge
• Design for manufacturing and design for assembly experience (Not required, but a bonus)
• C++ or Python programming experience (Not required, but a bonus)
