Air Traffic Control Specialist, Traffic Management Coordinator at Federal Aviation Administration summary:

An Air Traffic Control Specialist serving as a Traffic Management Coordinator ensures safe, efficient, and effective management of air traffic flow within terminal or en route facilities. Responsibilities include initiating traffic management instructions, assessing facility capacity, issuing flow restrictions, and monitoring weather and equipment status to mitigate delays and maintain workload balance. The role requires specialized experience, adherence to FAA and agency policies, and compliance with federal employment and security requirements.

Summary
Serves as a Traffic Management Coordinator in a Terminal or En Route facility and is responsible for ensuring that efficient and effective traffic management is maintained.
Duties
Help
Ensures that traffic management instructions/restrictions are initiated in accordance with established procedures to maintain a safe and expeditious flow of traffic and minimize the impact of heavy flight demands. Assesses the facility's capacity and projects an acceptable level of traffic.
Issues appropriate traffic flow restrictions to adjacent facilities, to space, hold, and reroute aircraft to distribute the flow of traffic and equalize workload among positions. Follows agency policy when implementing traffic management initiatives.
Maintains awareness of the traffic flow, equipment status, airport/weather conditions, and traffic forecasts to ensure acceptable levels of traffic, mitigate delays, and avoid flights into undesirable atmospheric conditions. Maintains familiarization of all phases of facility operations and aeronautical/meteorological conditions. Maintains currency on required positions of operation.

Qualifications
Candidates must show specialized experience, which is defined as:
Must have been facility rated or area certified in an ATO terminal/en route facility. Applicants should include examples of specialized experience in their work history.
QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE MET BY THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT.
Education
Education cannot be substituted for experience at the AT-2152-LH level.

A one-year probationary period may be required.
The person selected for this position may be required to file a financial disclosure statement within 30 days of entry on duty. FAA policy limits certain outside employment and financial investments in aviation-related companies. position is covered by the Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Any applicant tentatively selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment or pre-appointment drug screening. Persons occupying a "testing designated position (TDP)" will be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing.
Movement between CPC/TMC/TMS in the same facility results in no change in pay.
The person selected for this position must maintain medical clearance.
Early Retirement Coverage. This position is covered by P.L. 92-297 for early retirement/good time purposes.
Requirement for Security Clearance: Selection and placement are contingent upon waiver or completion of satisfactory security requirements. For Moderate Risk (5), this position requires completion and favorable adjudication of a National Agency Check and Inquiry (NACI) background investigation prior to appointment, unless a waiver is obtained.
For Interview: If the Agency decides to interview any qualified employee on the selection list, then all on the list who are qualified must be interviewed.
